Chapter 1 examines the content necessary to understand the basic nature of local administration. Chapter 2 covers the significance and types of local governments, while Chapter 3 examines the forms of institutional organization. Chapter 4 discusses the boundaries and hierarchy of local governments, and Chapter 5 examines the authority of local governments, the roles and powers of their heads, and the types of executive agencies. Chapter 6 looks at the roles and powers of local councils, and Chapter 7 covers content related to local elections. Chapter 8 deals with resident autonomy, which is the ultimate goal of local autonomy, and Chapter 9 discusses intergovernmental relations. Chapter 10 diagnoses various regional conflict issues that have emerged since the introduction of local autonomy. Chapter 11 examines the division of responsibilities between the central and local governments, Chapters 12 and 13 cover local finance, and Chapter 14 deals with various types of relationships, such as governance and civil society organizations (NGOs). Finally, Chapter 15 reviews future changes in local government administration and discusses measures to strengthen the capabilities of local governments. It is hoped that through this book, readers will be able to comprehensively understand and systematically study the various theories, institutions, and development systems related to local government administration.
