2. Personal information we collect
Depending on how you interact with KyoBooks, we may collect:
- contact and delivery information, including name, email address, billing and shipping addresses, recipient details and a telephone number when needed for delivery;
- account information, preferences, saved addresses and order history if you use a customer account;

- fraud-prevention, authentication, security and compliance information.
Please do not send information that is unnecessary for your order or request.
3. How we collect information
We collect information directly from you; automatically when you use the Site; from Shopify, the payment provider selected at checkout, our Seoul fulfillment partner and FedEx when they help complete your transaction; and, where permitted by law, from security, fraud-prevention or compliance sources.
4. How and why we use information
We use personal information to:
- operate the Site and provide requested products and services;
- process payments, confirm orders, prepare shipments, provide tracking, deliver parcels, and administer returns and refunds;
- respond to messages and communicate about orders, delivery, support and policy changes;
- maintain, troubleshoot, analyze, improve and secure our services;
- prevent, detect and investigate fraud, misuse, security incidents and unlawful activity;
- keep transaction, tax and accounting records, meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the store where those interests are not overridden by your rights, or consent. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
5. How we disclose information
We disclose personal information only as reasonably necessary for the purposes in this policy, including to:
- Shopify, which provides our storefront, checkout, order-management, customer-account, security and related commerce services;
- the payment provider selected at checkout;
- our fulfillment partner in Seoul, South Korea;
- FedEx for shipment, tracking, delivery, returns and delivery investigations;
- providers supporting hosting, email, customer communications, security, fraud prevention, analytics and recordkeeping, but only when such a service is enabled and necessary;
- professional advisers and financial institutions where reasonably necessary;
- courts, regulators, government authorities or other parties where law requires it or where reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety or property; and
- a lawful successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, financing or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal requirements.
Our store is powered by Shopify. Shopify's handling of visitor and customer information is described in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy, and Shopify privacy choices are available through the Shopify Privacy Portal.
KyoBooks does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Shopify Network Intelligence is currently enabled for the store. Shopify may therefore use customer information together with information from other Shopify services to improve Shopify services, ad targeting and personalization, as described in Shopify's applicable privacy terms. Some laws may define parts of this processing as a “sale,” “sharing” or “targeted advertising.”
Where those laws apply, use the Site's data sharing opt-out page, other available privacy controls or a legally recognized browser preference signal to exercise the applicable choice.
6. International processing and transfers
SKINSLI INC is based in the United States, while fulfillment takes place in Seoul, South Korea. Shopify, payment providers, FedEx and supporting providers may process information in the United States, South Korea, Canada or other countries where they operate.
Those countries may have different privacy laws. Where applicable law requires a safeguard for an international transfer, we use a recognized contractual or other lawful transfer mechanism.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We and the providers used to operate the Site may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the Site and checkout functioning, remember choices, maintain security, prevent fraud and understand Site performance. Non-essential analytics or advertising technologies, if enabled, are used according to applicable consent requirements.
Available cookies and choices depend on region, device and services currently enabled on the Site. You can use the Site's cookie or privacy controls and browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the Site or checkout from working.
8. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, maintain required transaction and tax records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements and meet legal obligations. The period depends on the type of information, our relationship with you, open orders or disputes, security needs, recordkeeping duties and applicable limitation periods. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed unless law permits or requires continued retention.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information; receive certain information in a portable format; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; opt out of marketing or legally defined sale, sharing or targeted advertising; appeal a privacy decision; and exercise a right without unlawful discrimination.
To submit a request, email support@kyobooks.com and describe it. We may need to verify identity and authority before completing the request. An authorized agent may act where applicable law allows, subject to reasonable proof of authorization.
You may also have the right to complain to the privacy or data-protection authority where you live.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, organizational and technical measures designed to protect personal information. No transmission or storage system is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed. Contact us promptly if you believe an account, order or communication with KyoBooks has been compromised.
11. Children
The Site is not directed to children. A purchase must be made by a person with legal capacity or by an authorized parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information unlawfully.
12. Third-party services and links
The Site may link to services we do not control. A third party's collection and use of information is governed by that party's privacy notice, not this policy.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, services or legal obligations. We will post the revised version at https://kyobooks.com/policies/privacy-policy and update the “Last updated” date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent.
