It's a magical advanced math workbook that really does let you solve problems by following along!
A meeting of critical thinking and school math! This is a wonderful workbook that takes curriculum content further and teaches it kindly, step by step.
It's great as a near-advanced workbook to wrap up the school year.
I took a look at Ttapul, Following Along Makes Elementary Math Click, Book 2-2. My child and I usually work through workbooks from the Cheon Jong-hyun Math Research Institute, so I was interested as soon as Ttapul came out. We build calculation skills with Wonrisem and regularly practice curriculum-based calculations with Gyogwasem. But because we've focused mostly on school lessons, I couldn't find a way to give my child advanced practice. They're still in the lower elementary grades, so I
My child was struggling with another advanced workbook, so we switched to Ttapul. They say it's easier to understand and work through because it also has video lessons from the teacher.
This is my first advanced math workbook. It's called Following Along Makes Math Click, and it really does work that way. If I leave a question on the Naver community, they reply quickly. It also has extra problems, so we can work on the types my child gets wrong often. Ttapul takes care of advanced math for us!!
It's different from the workbooks we've used before, so my child does get stuck, but I like that it's designed to make them think as they solve the problems.
I liked that it helps my second grader understand the parts they found confusing through detailed explanations, instead of making them tackle difficult problems like those in Choisangwi.
I thought my child understood the concept of dates, but they had trouble solving problems about it. This book covers essential calculation methods and has been a big help. We did Gi-eung, then Som asem, and then Choisangwi; since we've finished Gi-eung for the second semester, I plan to do Ttapul next and then move on to Choisangwi.
Cheon Jong-hyeon: Elementary Math 2-2 (Upper) That Can Be Solved by Following Along
What kind of workbook is Ttapul? It organizes ways to solve challenging problems into steps, so students can learn by following those methods and practice advanced problems of similar types. Other advanced workbooks often just present difficult problems, with too little explanation of how to solve them or with logical gaps. Ttapul, by contrast, teaches solution methods step by step so students can ultimately solve advanced problems on their own. We recommend Ttapul for students who know the basic concepts and principles taught in school math but find advanced problems difficult, as well as students who want to tackle advanced problems while using an application workbook or a workbook that covers both basic and applied concepts.
