I bought it so my child could get a head start on second-grade material. The contents look good. We haven't tried the problems yet, but the quality seems decent.
My child found it a little difficult, but worked through it happily. I'm planning to buy the rest of the series too.
With my child about to enter second grade, we chose Ttapul for the winter break as a step toward advanced math, and they've been working hard on it. At first, I had them jump straight into the KMA first- and second-half mock exams, but neither my child nor I could get a clear picture of which areas needed work. I spotted this book while browsing at a bookstore, bought it, and it has been a huge help. I chose it as a stepping stone to advanced math, and it feels like we've gained a whole army of
I bought this so my child can preview the material during break before moving up to second grade. They have been using Wonrisem, Som asem, and Teacher Cheon's books since age four, so I thought this book's approach would suit them—and it really does. Since this is for previewing, we do just one page a day. The explanations at the beginning are clear and easy to follow, and when my child still doesn't understand something, we use the QR code to watch the lesson while studying. My son is a
The advanced problems are explained so clearly, which makes this workbook great for studying at home with my child. The QR-code explanations are easy to understand, and my child likes the book. I also really appreciate that it provides extra problems for areas where they need more practice.
Cheon Jong-hyeon: Elementary Math 2-1 (Upper) That Can Be Solved by Following Along
What kind of workbook is Ttapul? It organizes ways to solve challenging problems into steps, so students can learn by following those methods and practice advanced problems of similar types. Other advanced workbooks often just present difficult problems, with too little explanation of how to solve them or with logical gaps. Ttapul, by contrast, teaches solution methods step by step so students can ultimately solve advanced problems on their own. We recommend Ttapul for students who know the basic concepts and principles taught in school math but find advanced problems difficult, as well as students who want to tackle advanced problems while using an application workbook or a workbook that covers both basic and applied concepts.
