Kim Ok-tae et al.: Media Psychology (2nd semester of 2026, workbook included)
*Media Psychology* is a textbook for communication studies that extensively covers the impact of media and media content on people. The book consists of a total of 12 chapters. Chapters 1 through 3 lay the foundation for media psychology, presenting an introduction to the field, research methods, and types of media effects. Chapters 4 through 8 deal with the relationship between media content and psychology, examining how various types of content—ranging from content that raises concerns about negative effects, such as violence or sexual content, to positive media, news, advertising, and entertainment—affect media users. Chapters 9 through 11 cover the characteristics of digital media and the psychology associated with them. They introduce the Internet, social media, and mobile media, and explore the interaction between these media and user psychology. The final chapter introduces various perspectives on media and humans. By following the structure of this book closely and familiarizing yourself with its contents, anyone will be able to understand how media and human psychology interact and influence each other. Based on this foundation, it is hoped that readers will broaden their overall understanding of media and humans.
