Description

The *Umberto Eco Mania Collection* contains most of Eco's works published over a period of about 50 years, excluding his novels and children's books, covering philosophy, semiotics, literary theory, cultural criticism, and columns. Through persistent tracking across Italy and the United States, this collection has even revived books that were out of print and unavailable in Italy. Umberto Eco, who is arguably one of the most influential thinkers of our time, is a passionate writer who began his work at the age of 24 and continues to write to this day at the age of 77. His masterpiece, *The Name of the Rose*, has been translated into over 40 languages, and he has received honorary doctorates from more than 30 universities worldwide. He is also a recognized scholar in academia, having lectured at Harvard University and Cambridge University. Volume 19, *How Newspapers Can Survive*, clearly presents survival strategies for newspapers facing the threat of shipwreck due to competition from television and the internet. While it uses Italian newspapers as examples, the strategies apply equally to Korean newspapers. It also covers various issues of modern society, such as war and fascism.

Eco's book is incredibly innovative and fun! Plus, perhaps because they are presentation texts, they were a quick and easy read compared to other writings.
