It is easy and helpful for children to read.

I did not realize this was a book for children at first. As I read, I saw phrases like “when you move up a grade,” and thought, “Oh, so children are the target audience.” But it was so helpful to me, too! Since it is for children, it is easy to read and the points really sink in, which I love! Most books about communication for adults are stiff and mostly text, but even when this one explains a skill at length, it does so with illustrations in about two pages, making it very easy to read. I

My child picked up the book and said, “This looks fun,” then carried it off. The animal illustrations on the cover are cute, and the bright colors caught my eye. In the introduction, I found the exact words my son used: “Can't I just be honest?” You can be honest, but you should not be too blunt... A few years ago, children could barely attend school after starting, because of COVID. Last year, their teacher told me that many older elementary students lack experience with relationships and do

My third-grader's way of speaking has really bothered me, and I hope this book will help them see things differently. It teaches different ways to express the same thing, which can change how the listener feels. I hope reading it helps them realize that understanding the other person from the listener's perspective is the first step in communication.

Words can feel different and carry different meanings depending on how they are spoken or phrased, even when the words themselves are the same. We often hurt people close to us with words, or get hurt by theirs, so I wanted to read How to Speak Politely and Confidently to improve a little. I applied through the Culture Bloom Cafe, where I am an active member, and was lucky to be selected to read it. The book has five chapters: recognizing bad ways of speaking, practicing rephrasing to build

Learning how to speak to build social skills in elementary school: How to Speak Politely and Confidently. My siblings bicker every day, and in the morning they argue over little things as usual. “Oppa, I told you not to do that.” The younger one's irritated, blaming tone makes the older one snap. Their critical words make the situation worse and worse. Children often let their emotions take over and tend to use things they have heard. Watching them, I could see how much their way of speaking

Kind words and correct words are both necessary and valuable. Even so, I was told to use kind words before correct ones. Why? Even true words can sound different depending on the situation, and what I think is right may seem wrong to someone else. I came across a children's book that helps with the difficult task of speaking politely and clearly while winning someone's heart, something that is not easy even for adults, and opened it up. It is a translation of a book by a Japanese author, whose

Chorong has received ongoing treatment since early childhood for language delays and general developmental delays. Fortunately, it helped, and before she started elementary school we were able to end all her treatments except social-cognition therapy. We did not want her to become what people call a social butterfly; we simply hoped she could have proper conversations with peers and form typical friendships, so she continued social-cognition therapy. Since a child's social skills do not improve

The book How to Speak Politely and Confidently by Takashi Saito, translated by Yang Seon-ha, analyzes speaking style, which is becoming more important than ever in the art of communication, and teaches techniques for speaking well. A single thing we say can hurt someone, but it can also comfort and encourage a person who is having a hard time. It makes you think deeply about the meaning and value of words. Considerate words and actions are becoming more important. The quality of our speaking

My younger child says things like “I don't like you” or “I'm not playing with you” whenever a friend upsets them, and then they both end up feeling hurt. When I looked at this book, I thought, “Oh?” It says it is for preschoolers, but my older child is in elementary school, and it seems suited to elementary school kids. It is in Chapter 2 that even adults who speak bluntly can learn something. It teaches the skill of expressing your honest opinion about a borrowed book or item you do not like
