Description

After reading a picture book, share your heart through the story and follow along with the play. To children, picture books are both teachers and friends. They gently touch their emotions, encouraging them to speak freely; they give courage to children who lack confidence; they help change habits; and they inspire them to create new stories through their imagination. Shall we take a look at how to play with picture books? First, select a picture book and read it aloud to the children. Once they finish reading, share your feelings with them regarding the story. Games played with Dad, feelings of love and disappointment towards Mom, the desire to become closer to friends, games they want to play on a rainy day, and so on. We then weave these shared feelings into a game. By creating and modifying various games—such as playing marbles, playing in a monster land, building houses with boxes, transforming with cloths, or playing farts to music—they immerse themselves in the games within the picture book and have a joyful time playing. As they open their hearts and play following the picture book, their bodies and minds will have grown a little more before they know it.
