The world of atoms. I was really curious about how the invisible world can be studied, but the price of the book is insane.
Peter Galison: Phenomenon and Logic 1
The goal of this book is not to unpack theory-centered explanations or collect stories of individual, isolated experimental discoveries, but rather to reveal the continuity underlying experimental conventions through an analysis of the instruments used in modern physics. I intend to trace two rival traditions in instrument-making. Abstractly speaking, the tradition of images evolves gradually, balancing itself with the tradition of logic. Specifically, I will focus on instruments designed to pursue the microscopic physical reality of physics. (Volume 1, pp. 63–64) – Peter Galison
