In *Failure Teach Us*, the conflicts of German society before and after reunification, their resolutions, and the image of peaceful coexistence are reenacted before us through in-depth literary analysis. In this book, the author interprets the literary works of writers from East Germany, focusing on them. This is because it was the people of East Germany, not West Germany, who directly experienced the collapse of the state and contemplated division and reunification more urgently. In this sense, this book was born as part of a study on the literary movement and socialist art of the early East Germany, and it is also the fourth result of the *Studies on East German Literature*, which the author has pursued based on his consistent academic interest.
