I bought it because I needed a math workbook. Great, great! The explanations are clear and easy.
[Review written after receiving a book from the publisher.] I’m reading this with my 7-year-old, who starts elementary school next year. I worried because their confidence in math had declined, but pictures and activities make concepts easy to approach. The large format and clear illustrations held their attention, and coloring and stickers made learning fun. It previews key first-grade concepts and units, beyond arithmetic. I recommend it to children starting elementary math and first graders

It arrived quickly and is good value. I recommend it.
It’s easy to focus on and understand.
It’s easy to study and understand.
People say understanding math concepts is more important than simply doing many problems or advanced ones. This seems like a very good workbook for learning concepts properly. Have them study the concepts first, before advanced or application workbooks.
This workbook is popular among moms. There are so many math books, but when one gets talked about, moms buy it, haha. I like that this is a new 2024 edition. It includes lessons, and the video explains concepts with the book’s pictures. I always wonder how my child will do and how hard it is; I was surprised to see 100 when my child usually only does single digits. Other kids have already done it all, apparently—I hope my child catches up. They said the first page was easy but got stuck on the
Key Mathematics Learning Method Research Institute: Elementary Math 1-2: Mastering Concepts with Pictures (2026)
The book starts with familiar everyday explanations followed by mathematical terminology: Math developed naturally to solve everyday problems, and its terms arose to explain things. Understanding the words helps you grasp concepts and their properties. This book introduces ideas in language familiar to children, with helpful illustrations, then explains them precisely in mathematical terms—first the forest, then each tree. 2. Problems that make concepts your own: Instead of repeatedly solving problems and memorizing procedures without reading explanations, practice concepts in stages, from simple questions to multi-step problems, to fully absorb what you learn. 3. All video lessons are free: Watch explanations and solutions for every unit. Download a video player app, scan the QR code, and start without registering. See the lively, refreshing, satisfying lessons by a former EBS math teacher!
