Henning Mankell: Dogs of Riga
Henning Mankel described the changing social image of Sweden in a crime novel that followed the deficits of My Sheval and Pervalle, who wrote The Martin Beck series. Jürley's dog has been the second leading novel by Detective Kurt Vallander, who was in mid-life crisis, and has entered the final candidate for the Los Angeles Times, mystery/siller. It was winter when Kurt Valander and his investigation team received an anonymous tip. A lifeboat will be washed ashore in a few days. Two men in expensive suits were shot dead inside the lifeboat. Two men seemed to be criminals who were victims of gang violence. Police surveillance, invisible threats and lies seem to be being solved by Balander on the way out as a laywoman in Latvia. Valander is constantly being followed by the dark shadows he pursues. The Balander's stubbornness to bring justice will only burn the truth.
