Gu Kwon-hyo et al.: The Behind-the-Scenes Story of the Struggle for Women's Ordination
The women's-sweep petition of the Korean church, which began in the 1930s, was a very first Protestant passport movement. They were convinced that the female eye count was not only Scripturally and theologically correct but also ‘the will of God.’. So, despite many frustrations, I was able to make a persistent plea for decades against the patriarchal power of religion. But the female eye is a matter of no consequence. There are still cults that view the Women's Eye as ‘the eternal truth’. Even within decades of the dogma, women's realities are still unequal. The low rate of pastors and gun groups, the poor treatment of women, the lack of recognition of female pastors as companions or leaders, the apparent lack of marriage, births, child care, sexual harassment and violence, all have a long way to go. The book features historical data on when major cults discussed and campaigning for women's eye and attention. The group also unmasks stories behind the history of the struggle by interviewing 10 pastors and elders who have joined the women's laying-off movement.
