Description

Elena Ferrante, who was greatly loved by readers for her "Naples Quartet" covering the lives of two women over sixty years set in Naples, presents the masterpiece "Bad Love Trilogy," which depicts the process of finding one's true self through painful love. Elena Ferrante is an author shrouded in mystery, having never once appeared before the public. You can encounter three works in which this author, who speaks of herself solely through her writing, discusses women using primal and self-destructive language. Although the three stories are independent, they share the commonality of having all three protagonists born in Naples and raised in a rough and patriarchal environment. Furthermore, they possess a chronological character in that they seek female identity centered on the lives of women. *Lost Love*, the final work of the "Bad Love Trilogy," is a novel that secretly and intensely portrays the dark underbelly of beautiful maternal love from a mother's perspective. Leda, a university English lecturer who raised two daughters alone after separating from her husband, goes on a summer vacation to the beach after her daughters leave for her husband in Canada. There, Leda is captivated by a beautiful young mother named Nina. As she gazes mesmerized at the sight of Nina and her daughter Elena playing with dolls, she is reminded of her own mother and two daughters. Leda's mother had threatened to run away and abandon her when she was young, and the two daughters she had raised alone for decades heartlessly left to be with their husbands in Canada. Nina and her daughter, whom she met on the beach, appeared incredibly close and seemed like alien presences completely unrelated to the boisterous Neapolitan family. Watching Nina, Leda feels a mixture of jealousy and envy.

Reading this while raising a four-year-old really tugged at my heartstrings. I could relate to it, and the incredibly realistic descriptions made me reflect on myself. I thought a lot about whether I am truly a good mother.

I read *Lost Love* during a time when I wasn't really reading. As it was my first time reading a work by Elena Ferrante, I started the novel with absolutely no knowledge of the author's style or the plot, but it drew me in with an unexpected pull. I turned the pages in an instant, shifting my position from lying in bed to sitting in a chair, and leaning back on the sofa. I encountered the most honest protagonist I have encountered in a novel recently. The character of Leda resonated with me

The final volume of the "Bad Love" trilogy by the unknown author Elena Ferente. Ferente is credited with opening new horizons in women's fiction. How does her novel differ from previous works by women? It is a story that simultaneously addresses the difficulties of living as oneself rather than as a mother, and the difficulties of living as a mother rather than oneself. I confidently recommend this novel, which delicately portrays female characters and guides the reader into a new literary

This is the story of events that unfold during the summer vacation of Leda, a university English lecturer approaching her forty-eighth birthday. Beginning with an accident involving Leda, the novel unfolds through a flashback perspective that frequently alternates between vacation scenes and past recollections, allowing readers to gradually understand her actions in the present. Every element carries meaning, making it a novel that required deep thought while reading.

Thinking that I had lost love made me worry that I might even collapse myself, losing all hope and will, as if I had reached the end of life. However, judging by the author's intent, I anticipate that the book will seriously delve into the existence of a "mother"—someone who sacrifices for others. Because she is a mother, she may quit her job and dedicate herself to the proper growth of a child, who is like her alter ego, as if she were a discarded shoe. Yet, the youth and time lost in this way

Bad Love Trilogy, Volume 3, p. 149. It is to return everything to the beginning. It is to return to a state where one is not bound by convention, where one’s senses have not become dulled by the predictability of everything. A state where I maintain my true self. A state where no anguish, other than the chaotic tangle of desires and dreams, hinders my contemplation. A state where I have never been enslaved by anyone since the umbilical cord was severed. This is the story of Lena, a 48-year-old

A mother's love for her child is called maternal love. When people think of maternal love, they typically picture something beautiful and warm. However, if you consider the perspective of a mother who is exhausted from childcare all day long, you realize that this is a very one-dimensional way of thinking. This novel touches upon the darker side of maternal love. It unfolds a story that any mother cannot help but empathize with. As you follow the emotions of the protagonist, Lena, you find

The "Bad Love" trilogy consists of *Annoying Love*, *Abandoned Love*, and *Lost Love*, and I read the third book, *Lost Love*. It is said that the author, Elena Ferrante, is a pen name rather than her real name. Since she reportedly does not appear in the media, her somewhat veiled appearance made her feel even more mysterious. Honestly, even if the content of a book is interesting, looking at densely packed text often makes my eyes hurt; however, everything from the cover to the book size and
