Description

When examining the content related to astronomy learning within Korea's elementary and secondary science curriculum, it mostly covers various astronomical phenomena that occur when the movements of celestial bodies forming the solar system are observed by an observer on Earth. Here, the celestial bodies forming the solar system refer to planets such as Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, which are primarily observable with the naked eye, as well as the Moon, which is Earth's satellite. Using a small telescope, one can observe the changes in the positions over time of Jupiter's four moons—Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto—and Saturn's moon, Titan. To explain these natural phenomena related to our solar system, a model capable of describing the movements of the planets and satellites is required. To construct such a model, it is advisable to first engage in learning to construct a model explaining the movements of solar system planets using data on the "apparent motion of Mars" and the "phases of Venus," and learning to construct a model of the Moon's motion using data on the "phases of the Moon" and "solar and lunar eclipses."
