Cheon Gyeong-rok: Theory of Korean Language Education: Issues and Direction
The Korean language education referred to in this book signifies "Korean subject education," which involves teaching the Korean language in elementary and secondary schools. The book is broadly organized into four parts: Characterism, Content, Organization, and Methodology. I initially considered establishing separate sections on Curriculum and Textbooks but ultimately decided against it, as the curriculum and textbooks already reflect not only content but also methodological theories to a significant extent. For the sake of ease of explanation, some chapters focus on reading areas or case studies. The volume is structured to accommodate one major topic per week in a semester-long course at a teacher training university. If you intend to conduct group assignment activities, it is recommended to start reading from Chapter 15. For undergraduate students, Chapters 2 (Philosophy), 3 (Policy), and 14 (Research Methodology) may be somewhat difficult, so it is acceptable to omit them.
