Description

Carl Gustav Jung's autobiography, *Memories, Dreams, Thoughts*. Although it is a compilation of conversations between Jung and his disciple and secretary, Aniela Jaffe, conducted over approximately five years starting in 1957, it can be considered a work written almost entirely by Jung himself, as he personally reviewed the text. In accordance with Jung's wish that the book be published after his death, it was released in 1962, the year following his passing at the age of 86. This book serves as an introductory text guiding readers into the intellectual world of Jung, a psychologist who analyzed the mysteries of the human psyche beyond Freud's scientism. Through his recorded voice, it demonstrates just how deep and wide a human being's mental depth and breadth can be. Furthermore, it captures his lifelong dedication to religious themes and his efforts to psychologically prove the existence of God. Moreover, this autobiography conveys the most faithful history of self-realization of a man who pursued the fusion of consciousness and the unconscious throughout his entire life. It vividly describes childhood memories that remain clear even at over 80 years of age, dreams that captivated a lifetime, and visions experienced before death, and meticulously records the process of analyzing and bringing them to consciousness. “Hate and love, fear and worship, enter the stage of confrontation, highly dramatizing their concepts. In doing so, what was merely ‘presented’ transforms into ‘acting.’ The whole man is challenged and plunges into a struggle, staking his entire reality. Only in this way can he become the whole and ‘God be born.’ In other words, God enters human reality and becomes able to be with man within the form of ‘man.’ Through this kind of incarnation, man—that is, his ego—is internally replaced by

I extend my deep gratitude to Professor Cho Seong-gi for translating this book and to Kim Youngsa Publishing. I will thoroughly enjoy reading this precious and meaningful book. As with other works by Jung, it overflows with the joy of pondering over, analyzing, and reading it extensively.

I heard that Mencius regarded Confucius, who had already passed away during his lifetime, as his lifelong teacher and devoted himself to his studies. Was this how Mencius feels right now, having encountered Confucius's words? I feel like I will read this many more times before I die.

I liked it. There were parts that resonated with me and I could relate to, so I'm underlining as I read. I bought it because a celebrity was following my lead, but I'm glad I did.

I bought this because I wanted to know more about Carl Jung than Freud.

Carl Jung is one of the most important figures in psychology, and it felt like sitting in his private concert for about eight hours, one-on-one. However, as you can see from the book details, it exceeds 650 pages. I would recommend it if you have a strong interest in psychology and truly enjoy reading. Nevertheless, for the right reader, it covers a wealth of topics and offers deep insights and interpretations, making it a lovely book that evokes the noble intellect and experience of an ancient

I haven't read a book in a long time that I was so engrossed in, smiling as I was. Unlike Freud, who felt like a fastidious theorist being chased by something in *The Interpretation of Dreams*, the Jung introduced in this book resembled a shaman absorbed in exploring his own inner world. It is a book that captures the entire journey of a truly captivating intellect, from its blossoming and full bloom to its eventual withering.

Carl G. YUNG... I had heard of him many times, but had only assumed he was "just some psychologist from the Confederation of Germany." So, I purchased this just to learn about the "person"... It exceeded my expectations with an excellent composition, Western-style binding, and a suitable edition...

They say it’s a love letter written by God. They tell you not to throw it away without even opening it... Your life can change if you look up Ko Hye-kyung’s *How to Use My Dream*.

Regarding the book *Carl Jung: Memories, Dreams, Thoughts*, I think it is necessary to share some background information. In *How to Read Books*, published by Minumsa in 1994, Jung’s autobiography was introduced; however, I was disappointed that it had not yet been translated at that time. I had forgotten about it for a while until I discovered a translated version in *50 Coveted Soul Books of My Life*, translated by Professor Oh Kang-nam. To cut a long story short, I believe this is a book
