“Where is the war? “Would it not be ironic that Korea and Japan were living in a different postwar era, comparing literature to the two countries that followed? The book reviews whether Korean and Japanese postwar literature can be compared. We're going to look more carefully at what Korean literature means, or what it means, and on its basis we're gonna try to suggest what postwar literature should and should be. Let's go back to the war again, because that's the basic concept of how to discuss Korean liberation and modern literature, and it's a phenomenon that still lasts. Postwar Korean and Japanese literature are not on the same plane. And the comparison of literature between the two postwar countries is contradictory. South Korea and Japan were living in different postwar years, which brought two countries that seemed trapped in one ‘stemporary’ mechanism facing different fates. One fate forced to retreat from reality and stand firm against the power of the ghosts, the Koreans, and Japan as Japan, to create their own present and future. Yet literature in both countries seems to have aspects of the landscape that are still overlapted and need to be re-integrated.
