Will McRaney Jr.: The Art of Personal Evangelism
Throughout the 19th century, Christianity grew with a focus on missions. Entering the 20th century, while missions continued in parallel, personal evangelism became increasingly common in places where Christianity had taken root. However, such practices are now difficult to find. While there may be issues with methodology, massive changes in culture and circumstances are likely the primary factors. Nevertheless, if we were to cease missions and evangelism, the opportunities to accept Jesus through the Gospel would significantly diminish. Naturally, now is the time for us to practice wise and strategic personal evangelism. Against this backdrop, this book re-examines fundamental questions regarding evangelism. Furthermore, it addresses key practical issues encountered in the field. The author asserts that evangelism is a form of art for the soul. Therefore, the book provides a balanced account of the principles and practices of evangelism, as well as the foundation and theory required of an evangelist. Across three parts, it diagnoses the roles of God and the evangelist, as well as our culture, and details effective methods for the Gospel. Additionally, it offers tips and techniques for engaging in dialogue with non-believers. I am confident that this book will lead to remarkable growth in both the understanding and practice of evangelism. Furthermore, if there are believers who feel a spiritual burden regarding evangelism, this book will fill them with the grace of transforming that burden into spiritual joy.
