Lately, I felt like I was alone in a desert, but it was nice to feel less lonely as I related to this book.
I am looking forward to this book because it seems like it could show me a new path in life, especially since I am so exhausted these days.
When I was much younger, I shunned self-help books. I considered them merely shallow marketing ploys by some publishers who profited from superficial advice on how to navigate life. My thinking was that one only needed to practice what they learned in school and live diligently; why bother learning how to live in the world or develop oneself separately? However, my perspective began to change about ten years ago after reading Stephen Covey's *The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People*. Since
"Six Ways to Cross Life" seems like a book with a wonderful title. Everyone is bound to face difficulties in life, and everyone wants to know how to navigate them. I, too, chose this book with the shallow hope that I might learn a few of those methods. However, if there is a problem in the world without an answer, isn't it life itself? The author, rather than offering a solution, shares the method by which he found his own answer, using the metaphor of a sea turtle. The author discusses six
When I first received the book *Six Ways to Cross Life*, I opened it wondering if, true to the title, it was a guidebook offering ways to overcome difficulties in life. However, the author was telling the story of a sea turtle. As I read on, I felt that our lives bear a striking resemblance to that of a sea turtle. Perhaps that is why the author sought to guide readers in the right direction by sharing their own experiences and stories of their son and daughter while writing about the sea
Life is often described as a journey or a long voyage. Just as life is a journey toward a destination, wouldn't that destination be the same for everyone? Much like salmon are born in a pond, travel the ocean, and finally return to their home river. This book compares our lives to the life of a sea turtle. To be honest, I didn't really know what a sea turtle's life was like until now. On a sweltering Florida beach in July, the sand moves, and hatchlings wriggle within it. It is somewhat ironic
Crossing the long road of life is impossible with one's own strength alone. You need family and friends, and you need a reliable book. I believe *Six Ways to Cross Life* is a sturdy book that will likely serve as a companion as you navigate through life. What meaning does a decision have if it is not actually carried out, even if it was made after deep thought and deliberation? This book provides the very strength to take action. Every single passage serves as the power to initiate a new
Steve Donahue: Six Ways to Cross Life
*Six Ways to Cross Life* is a new essay collection published five years after *Six Ways to Cross the Desert* by Steve Donahue, the author of *Six Ways to Cross the Desert*. This book encourages us as we embark on the fascinating yet daunting journey called life and presents six methods to help us grasp the right direction and move forward. It discusses leaving the nest when ready and following one's heart, as well as how to develop and utilize one's abilities in fields where one can achieve something by leveraging one's unique talents. Furthermore, it states that mistakes serve as a measuring device and feedback that tells us whether we know our inner compass and are following it correctly, urging us not to fear them but to make more mistakes. It also emphasizes that we must look deep within ourselves, follow our individual compasses out into the world, complete the journey of life, and then return to the inner home that we call home. In this way, the book adds interest and immersion by alternating the journey of life with that of a sea turtle.
