Song Ki-tae et al.: Gokseong Jukdong Nongak
Jukdong Nongak is akin to a "living fossil of village Nongak," as it is the village that has nurtured the village's Nongak culture. The residents of Jukdong have such deep affection for Nongak that they say, "If we play Nongak at the village hall for just five minutes, everyone in the village comes to visit." Consequently, at the beginning of the year, wealthy households or families with newborns would donate colored sashes or musical instruments to pray for the children's health and longevity. Furthermore, every full moon of the first lunar month, they organized their own Nongak festivals, performing Dangsanje, Daljiptaewugi, Madangbalbi, and Pangut, and have strived to secure the transmission of Nongak through the efforts of the residents themselves. They also performed Geolgung to repair bridges that were washed away by floods every year, supported Nongak musicians, and provided Nongak education for the village's youth. This book compiles information on Gokseong Jukdong Nongak.
