Son Hwan: Modern Korean Sports as Seen Through Photo Postcards
The biggest purpose of his collection of photo postcards was not just to collect old food, but to do lectures and research. Now, over the years, we have collected about 700 photo postcards — golf courses, swimming pools, skis, leisure facilities, playgrounds, beach, school gyms, and traditional games — all of which are valuable and necessary. Looking back, there was a real challenge in collecting that was not limited to time and economic. But there was also a growing number of Muslims who did not know when, where and what new photo postcards might appear. The book may be said to have meant using the visual feed of Korean sports as a photocard. I think it is a great pleasure to have the book help us find and understand the roots of Korean sports.
