The author of this book is So Ji-hee, a mother of three, a wife, and a pastor's wife. Since her life seemed very similar to mine, I was curious about what she would say about raising children. I found myself nodding along as I read, and I was struck by how much her thoughts on parenting, reflections on God, and experiences resembled my own. Yet she had gone beyond theory and applied what she believed with far greater diligence and faithfulness, which naturally made me reflect on myself. I

Reading this book made me realize anew that raising children is difficult, but also valuable and precious. I also learned about the books that helped the author through her many trials and experiences. I couldn't help thinking, “She must have read so many books.” As the saying goes, mothers are new to being mothers too, and everything is unfamiliar at first. As I raise my children, I often feel that I cannot wait, be patient, or exercise self-control. I have clearly realized that the fruit of patience and self-control must grow in me through the fullness of the Holy Spirit. It conveys that the gospel is essential from becoming a couple through becoming parents. Alongside So Ji-hee's parenting stories, it offers introductions to many books and useful resources for raising children. Above all, as a Christian and a Christian parent, I was able to return to the basics and rediscover the value and power of the

If I had found this book while leading a parenting education program recently, I would have recommended it as a book for everyone to read together. It is full of Yes Mom So Ji-hee's vivid story of raising children. It addresses questions parents wrestle with at some point and offers answers. The fresh green cover felt warm and inviting as I opened the book. Unlike other parenting books, the first topic is preparation for marriage—not planning a wedding, but truly preparing for marriage. It says

“Behind the Lord's message to be fruitful and multiply were amazing grace and blessings. I hope you come to realize that raising children is a precious season in which you learn that the Lord is truly your Lord and deeply experience the grace of the gospel.” (p. 47) “Should you have children after getting married?” I had wondered about that myself. I never planned to remain childless, but I wasn't sure I could bear the many costs of having and raising a child. Now that I'm pregnant, I feel how
