*Democracy, Engaging in a Conversation with Unification* is composed of two parts. First, Part 1, Democracy, discusses the meaning and principles of democracy, political parties and elections, forms of government, perspectives on international politics, democracy and postmodernism, the trends and challenges of our democracy, and the limitations of representative democracy and public square democracy. These subtopics are essential for understanding the various elements and contents of democracy. It also examines multiculturalism, our immigration policy, and North Korean defectors. This is because I believed that topics related to multiculturalism could serve as a yardstick for gauging the level of our democracy. Next, Part 2, Unification, covers the meaning of unification, the establishment of the regimes in South and North Korea, the Korean War, unification policy and education, the international order and the policies of surrounding great powers regarding the Korean Peninsula, cases of unification in divided nations, the Kaesong Industrial Complex issue, perspectives on understanding North Korea, and the characteristics of the North Korean system. I believe that examining various topics related to unification holds significance for a future unified Korea.
