Description

*Seol Min-seok’s Annals of the Joseon Dynasty* is an entertaining and in-depth Korean history book by star lecturer Seol Min-seok, who has garnered attention for his appearances on numerous broadcasts, including MBC’s *Infinite Challenge* and O’tvN’s *How to Be an Adult*. Bringing together the 27 kings of Joseon into a single volume to unravel key major events, the book captures Seol Min-seok’s signature captivating conciseness and witty tone in a conversational style. By translating the voices of the kings appearing in the Annals into modern language, the book not only helps readers clearly understand the background of policies and major events of the time but also incorporates Q&A sections throughout, creating the sensation of listening to a lecture right in front of the audience. Historical events are naturally understood one by one, and fragments of superficial Korean history knowledge, previously remembered in disarray, are calmly organized. Furthermore, the highlight of this book lies in its bold shattering of the stereotype that history is tedious and difficult. The candid revelation of the kings' human lives—as sons, husbands, and fathers before being kings—offers a unique kind of entertainment. It will tell comfortable and enjoyable historical stories to readers who wanted to know the main threads and core of Joseon history but found it difficult to take on the challenge.

This is a book I've wanted to read for a long time. I haven't read it yet, but it looks like it will be fun. However, even though it is a new book, the paper at the bottom is crumpled or dented... Since the damage is small, I'm just going to keep it and not exchange it. Please send me a clean book next time.

As someone who loves history, I have read many Korean history books over the years. While I felt they were a bit on the expensive side, I don't regret the price at all. It is so interesting that I have read it dozens of times and practically memorized it. I highly recommend it; you won't regret it.

I once owned a complete set of the Joseon Dynasty from a publisher that was nearly thirty volumes long, but it was tedious and difficult to read, so I stopped halfway through. I have always wanted to read the Joseon Dynasty thoroughly, but looking at the general overview, it seems to only cover the big picture, and I will likely have to purchase the details separately.

A book that made me fall in love with the Annals of Joseon! I believe this is the very first book you must read to understand the Joseon Dynasty. The author wrote it in a way that anyone can easily read, and the examples throughout were excellent. I think it is truly the best book among recent publications.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who dislikes history, as it explains difficult-to-access history in an easy and fun way. Am I the only one who feels like I can vividly hear Teacher Seol's voice while reading?

To think I could learn about our history so easily and enjoyably! Studying history wasn't difficult at all. Interest is important, and in that regard, this book is engaging enough to capture your attention and is a really easy read.

I am enjoying the content of the book. However, the binding is disappointing; the edges of the seams are rough, looking as if they were forcibly torn by hand. It is a shame that the publisher failed to adhere to the basics of book production! I have never seen a book like this before.

It reads well. However, perhaps because it is focused more on entertainment and fun, it is not a history book with much depth. So, while it would be good as an introductory book to spark an interest in history, I would not recommend it to those who are genuinely looking to learn history.

I chose this book based on recommendations from friends. I also heard that Seol Min-seok explains things very well, and when I received the book today, I liked that it wasn't boring because there were pictures interspersed throughout. Everyone is clamoring to borrow it!

Not history learned rigidly through rote memorization, but history learned through stories! I believe this is a very useful book that anyone, regardless of age or gender, can easily access and learn from. Due to my busy work life, the history in my mind was gradually fading, but I will make an effort to engrave it in my mind once again and never forget it.
