It was such a compelling book, and I enjoyed it so much. Even though it’s four volumes, I kept wanting to read, so I stayed up until dawn—and flew through it.
I bought this because so many reviews said it was fun, thinking I’d read it over the Chuseok holiday, but I’ll finish it before the holiday even begins. It’s so good!!!!! There were a few touching moments too, and I teared up a little. This isn’t usually my kind of story, but I got completely absorbed in it... Now what should I reread over the holiday?
I’m so happy to experience again in print the joy I felt when I first followed Beloved Oppressor as a serialized story!
Even now, after reading it last year, it’s still the best novel of my life. I’m also really enjoying the work the author is currently serializing.
A novel I wished would never end while I was reading it. The author’s writing drew me into the story, and I read as if I were being pulled inside. I’m so glad it came out in print, and I’m happy there’s a boxed set, too. Congratulations on completing the story. Thank you, author, for all your work bringing it to life.
After reading it as an e-book, I knew I wanted a physical copy, so I’m really happy it’s now available through crowdfunding and in regular bookstores. Every sentence moved me. I think I’ll keep reading it again and again.
The webtoon recently came out, so I’m rereading the novel as an e-book. The adaptation is so well done that I’m marveling at every episode as I read.
Even when it comes to web novels, I prefer meaningful works that move the heart over commercial products made simply to earn money, and I want to say proudly that this web novel is one of those works. I was disappointed that the webtoon adaptation didn’t quite capture the appeal of the original novel, but I was delighted when the author announced the print edition. I planned to preorder it, but missed the deadline by just one day and was devastated. I’m glad I can still buy it this way. Kyobo
I love the author’s work, and the story is excellent, but I’m not satisfied with the finish on the box. The book covers are also too thin, and they weren’t folded properly, so they’re misaligned. What a shame.
The cover is beautiful, but it creases so easily. I wish it were more durable. I’m glad to own Beloved Oppressor.
Seo Sa-hee: My Beloved Oppressor 1–4 (Box Set)
“So you deliberately approached me from the very beginning?” “...That’s right.” “It must have been hard pretending to love your enemy’s daughter.” Annette, a descendant of the royal family and the only daughter of the head of the military, married Heiner, her father’s loyal subordinate, after two years of love. She thought she would be happy forever with her handsome, kind husband. Everything was perfect—or seemed to be, until her husband’s betrayal brought down her family. “Let’s get divorced, Heiner.” “I refuse.” “Am I still useful to you? My parents are dead, the monarchy has fallen, and I have nothing. Your revenge is over.” “My lady, where do you think you’ll go to be happy?” “...There’s nowhere I can be happy.” Heiner smiled, stretching the corners of his mouth. “If that’s the case anyway, then stay by my side and be unhappy for the rest of your life.” Annette suddenly realized that his revenge was not over—and that she would have to end this wretched bond with her own hands. Beloved Oppressor, a romance novel by Seo Sasae, captivated readers from its very first page with its heartbreaking story, graceful and refined prose, and irresistible pull. After readers’ long wait, the four-volume boxed set is finally here.
