Seiko Ito: Balcony gardening my way
Since the time of his debut as a writer in 1988, he has been a master of the veranda essay in Ito Sekoko, who has been active not only in literature but also in music, plays and broadcasts. From the spring of 2004, to the spring, 2006, two years of keeping a journal from the newspaper Sun-Asahi. Although he has a dozen years of amateur gardening experience, the stage does not escape the narrow veranda of Tokyo's multi-mask mansion. It's not that you don't envy the garden. But there is a world of plants that can feel more closely in this veranda. In the veranda, a place that is never of great sexuality, it is a book with a cheerful and smiling record of the growth and death of plants repeated with the seasons. Instead of showing us how to master gardening, we have a record of failure. But as we read this account, we naturally ask why people are so drawn to what gardening is and how it's done. The book tells us that the fulness of life with plants is based on accepting, among other things, that failure is a part of gardening. And when you get used to the wildest of wait, you're gonna have a great deal of ecstasy.
