Sarah de Bont et al.: Books about book forms

On January 30, 2009, a ‘book form ’ conference was held at the St. Brown Library in London, England. The title of the conference is, of course, a misnomer about the form of Jan Chiholt's 1975 book and the type of typeography. From young designers to middle-hand design historians, from conversation to review, there were many voices and a wealth of stories that covered the form of books. The speakers covered different topics, but their words were shared in the “critical self-responsibility” and in the“interest of books as physical objects for interaction.”. Their perspectives point to the history of book design, and make them look at the present, and even see into the future. The book's style was then described as 'book form'.
