Description

The place we live in, the house we live, the place we see in the biologist's eyes, is never alone. As a place where we spend much of our time in life, home has many deep meanings. Adding to that is one more new and unexpected meaning. And that's the ecosystem in the house. Rob Dunn, a biologist at North Carolina University, introduces the various living things that exist in our home and looks through it from the window frames to the shower head. Follow his lead, and you will find that there are many insects in the house, as well as microbes that are not so well-visible to our eyes, and also fungi, in the wild. The book, a total of 12 chapters, describes the world of microbes and bacteria, cholera and fungi as the first guide for Anton Panyen-Hurb to discover microbes in the 17th century. Chapter 9 “The Roaches Are a People Who Are Troubled” introduces the more powerful and re-repairing cockroaches and the 10th chapter“What Cats Bring In” describes the Toxocto worm’s ability to spread offspring only in the cat's intestines. The last chapter 12 is “The Taste of Biodiversity” with Kimchi. The author, through his Korean Jiin, becomes aware of South Korea's concept of “hands taste” and wonders whether microbes in private hands and in the home affect the taste of food. So author Rob Dunne looks inside and looks at hidden secrets, which are the spaces we spend most of our daily lives, and then opens up interesting stories.
