It's an old book, but it's worth reading for a while. like the kosmos of Carl Sagan.
I really wanted to read it, but I had a point and I bought it. So there's a lot of interesting things about this.
๐งฌ An amazing biology book that overturns conventional wisdom about natural selection. It is a genetics book that changes the perspectives we have vaguely held based on what we learned long ago. Despite the misunderstandings and controversies stemming from the title, it presents strong arguments and examples that compel even non-specialist general readers to understand. Although it contains terminology that may feel somewhat difficult for those with a humanities background, it was a rewarding
Richard Dawkins' *The Selfish Gene*, published in 1976. It is said that the impact this book had on the intellectual world at the time was similar to when Darwin published *On the Origin of Species* in 1859. While there were many favorable reviews, there were also criticisms labeling it as extremist. Although the selfish gene theory is Darwin's theory, Dawkins expressed it in a way that Darwin did not choose. Rather than focusing on individual organisms, he explains what it would be like to
The worst translated book I've encountered since the old edition of *Walden*. A translation bad enough to make Mr. Dawkins furious. It is such a shoddy translation that it looks like a compilation of translation reports written by a college student attempting to translate an original text for the first time. You absolutely must read the book at a bookstore before buying it. You would be better off looking at a book published 30 years ago (photo). Not all books are created equal. To think a
I bought it from the neighborhood. I'm going to try to read it, sort of by sorting out a lot of material. I'll read it well.
It's a thick book, but it's soft and easy to read. You make good a culture. I'll read it.
I ordered this as a gift for my son in the military... I received a defective copy and had the hassle of exchanging it once, but I was glad they handled it immediately. The content is a bit difficult, but it is a good book. I think I would need to read it at least three times to fully understand it. Since it has a black cover, there must be a reason it has been a bestseller for so long. I highly recommend it!
Women who choose men with superior physiques. Men who constantly flirt with multiple women. Women who play hard to get and avoid sex as much as possible. Men who try to speed things up somehow. Younger siblings you hate and want to hit. Older siblings who cannot stand seeing that same sibling come home beaten up by others. Unmarried aunts devoted to their nephews. The reason why you are closer to your maternal grandmother than your grandmother. If you want to know a different answer to these
It is a little harder than the usual book, but it goes well from the middle.
Richard Dawkins: The Selfish Gene
First published in 1976, *The Selfish Gene* caused an explosive sensation among the scientific community and the general public, emerging as a controversial work of the century. Having undergone 40 years of verification, its importance and depth have been firmly recognized; translated into over 25 languages, it has established itself as a scientific classic that young people must read. In the epilogue newly included in this 40th-anniversary edition, which features a new design and a portable format, the author reiterates the book's message while discussing the enduring validity of the concept of the "selfish gene." In this book, the author argues that all living beings, including humans, are survival machines created by DNA or genes, and are entities that perform selfish behaviors to pass on their genes to future generations. This assertion caused a stir in the scientific community, including the field of biology, and has been the subject of numerous accolades and debates in academia and the media for 40 years. To support his argument, the author presents major issues such as the evolution of sex, the nature of altruism, the evolution of cooperation, the range of adaptation, the emergence of swarms, family planning, and kin selection, as well as extensive modern research theories and experiments including game theory, experiments on evolutionarily stable strategies, the prisoner's dilemma, bat experiments, and bee experiments.
