Rabindranath Tagore: Gitanjali
*Gitanjali*, a poetry collection by Rabindranath Tagore, winner of the 1913 Nobel Prize in Literature. As the first Asian recipient of the Nobel Prize in Literature, this collection contains poems that portray the relationship between humans and God as that of loving lovers. The *Open Books World Literature Selection* has specially included the original text of the poems translated into English by Tagore, along with a foreword by W. B. Yeats and an accurate and delicate translation by English literature scholar Jang Gyeong-ryeol. This collection is a kind of long series of poems revolving around life, death, nature, and God; representing a refined style of religious poetry, it embodies all kinds of human aspirations toward God.
