Description

Why is WORD SMART necessary? Most vocabulary books published so far have been difficult to study. Some have too many words, while others are absurdly difficult. Some promise easy methods or tricks that require no effort, but most of those methods do little to help you learn new words. This book is clearly different. The Princeton Review, which has operated SAT prep programs for more than 10 years, drew on years of accumulated data and expertise to create a focused, efficient vocabulary book. There is no doubt that it is an optimal vocabulary study guide. WORD SMART's innovative step-by-step vocabulary method: Step 1 | Let go of the idea that studying words is boring, and actively take in the words around you. Step 2 | Read lots of newspapers, magazines, and books. The words you use say who you are. Step 3 | Infer a word's meaning from context, then look it up to learn its exact meaning. Step 4 | Use a thesaurus to find synonyms. Step 5 | Use associations, images, and word origins to memorize words. Step 6 | Make your own flashcards for review. Step 7 | Always write down the words you learn, and make sure you master five to ten a day. Step 8 | Use the words you have memorized repeatedly.

This is the Korean translation of the sixth edition. The old version was a large book, and it was inconvenient because the binding would bend. The new edition is also available split into separate volumes, which makes it easier to use. The print is smaller, though, so I find myself reaching for a magnifying glass.

Everything you need is in one book! It has definitions and pronunciations like a dictionary, as well as English definitions like an English-English dictionary, so your synonyms naturally expand. It also helpfully lists additional synonyms and gives word origins that make the meanings easier to understand. The book suggests several study methods. When I tried them, I could see how studying one word expanded into related synonyms, which boosted my study skills and helped the words stick in my

Anyone who has studied English has probably heard of Word Smart at least once. Just as it is called the world's best-selling vocabulary book, people around me and I used to carry it around and study it like a bible when preparing for English-language tests such as the SAT and TOEFL. It has been quite a while since I stopped studying English, and now that I am starting again, vocabulary is the first obstacle I feel. You need words to read, listen, speak, and write, but when you don't know the

Created by the Princeton Review team and studied by students across America—the bible of vocabulary learning! 🩶👍 It is said to be a long-running bestseller with more than four million copies sold in the United States alone. I was really curious about it and wanted to bring it home since I have teenagers. The organization feels very trustworthy. It includes standard pronunciation symbols. Unlike the pronunciation symbols based on native speakers used in the original, these standard symbols are

Even when studying simply to acquire a foreign language, people tend to focus on expressions native speakers commonly use. For vocabulary study aimed at various exams, quantity matters, but quality matters too; it is important to pay attention to tested words, especially frequently tested ones. As its slogan says, WORD SMART is “the vocabulary-learning bible created by the Princeton Review team and studied by students across America!” It is also a steady seller, with more than four million

I can now explain English grammar to other people, and I keep studying pronunciation so I can speak confidently without relying on a translation app. And yet! Why can I still not understand what I hear!!! I realized why while studying with WORD SMART 2. Good grief... out of ten words, it is hard to find even two that I know. My vocabulary is so limited because I neglected English in school that no matter how much I study, I still can't understand TV shows or foreign films. Vocabulary! Let's

Word Smart is so famous that it needs no introduction. What I liked most about this book was that each word has an English-English definition and a wealth of example sentences. When a vocabulary book gives only Korean meanings, the words may not resonate or it can be hard to understand their precise nuances. I am very satisfied that this book almost completely solves that problem.

The book is well organized and solid. I think it would be effective to buy volumes 1 and 2 together and study them, and it offers a substantial way to learn vocabulary.

It presents words through many different approaches and includes plenty of features that make them easy to memorize. It groups them by roots or themes, so you can choose a comfortable way to study. I recommend it to students who struggle with English vocabulary. There are also quizzes along the way where you choose meanings or antonyms, which makes it a good book for checking your progress. Its appendices include words that are likely to appear in passages requiring specialized knowledge, so it
