Reading this book, I realized that the words I had only memorized roughly in middle school were formed by combining these parts. It is intended for middle school students, but it is also a pretty good book for adults to revisit.
Park Young-ro et al.: Taming English Words Through Etymology Basics
First, The vocabulary is 70% middle school words and 30% high school words. Most of the high school words in the book are different parts of speech related to middle school English vocabulary. Second, Every core English word to be learned is explained with an illustration. Third, The prefixes, roots, and suffixes of every word are explained in detail. Fourth, Korean nuance is included in parentheses when each word is explained. Fifth, Lively example sentences are drawn from articles in well-known international publications such as National Geographic. Sixth, Words from the first semester of 10th-grade curriculum are added to help students become familiar with high school English vocabulary naturally. As students advance through the grades, new words and other parts of speech for previously learned words are added to textbooks. The book aims to reduce the burden of high school English by helping students learn its vocabulary naturally. Seventh, All learned words can be reviewed through Korean conversations in different situations, presented in webtoon and Kakao chat formats. Eighth, A suffix section is included in lesson 30, helping students understand the added meaning and part of speech conveyed by each suffix.
