To read the grand narrative of the Joseon Dynasty in a single volumeโit is an amazing book.
It is easy and fun to read.
A book that allows you to organize 500 years in the palm of your hand
A book that looks new every time you read it, even two or three times. It's so much fun.
A book I reread after watching the movie *The Man Who Lives with a King* โค๏ธ๐๐
I purchased this because I wanted to learn more about Joseon history in detail. It is a book that has been in the school library for over 20 years and that I had already read, but I am only buying it now. It contains major events and stories about key figures, organized by king. I will take my time reading through it.
I am reading it slowly and carefully.
I found it informative.
I'm enjoying reading this. It's fun.
There are typos and some years are wrong too.
Park Young-gyu: The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty in One Volume
The 2017 fully revised edition of *The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty in One Volume* adds concise and interesting "Preliminary Knowledge" for easier understanding and supplements the content of the *Annals of King Sukjong*. The "Preliminary Knowledge" organizes questions primarily asked by numerous readers about the king into 17 categories, starting with a fundamental question about the nature of the book and covering topics such as temple names and posthumous names, the difference between honorific titles and the titles of 'Jo' and 'Jong,' the process of royal succession, and the actual daily routine and private life of the king. Next, the *Annals of King Sukjong* systematically adds diverse stories necessary for understanding the entire Sukjong era.
