Park Jung-won: Happiness Economics

There are two big problems with the happiness of modern Koreans. The average happiness is lower and lower the age. The author looks for the cause of this in the market economy, based on the idea that human happiness is not related to the social system in which he lives. The competition in education, the workplace and other major areas of life has caused cooperation and empathy to disappear, and even close people have less connections that affect happiness as they see it as a competition. The author, while making critical reviews of the various definitions of happiness that economics has presented, asks what is the nature of happiness without its being included. The rise in real incomes, as economists claim, has greatly increased consumption, but happiness has not increased. Instead, growing inequality and discrimination have lowered happiness. The author defines happiness in a new way, beyond the framework of existing economics. The author's happiness definition of "true happiness is to realize his potential" is to tell us about our real lives, where there are no indicators of economics, and not the product of the market economy, but to draw the whole of life with a broader view than the one that does the job. So it's not about internal emotions, it'S about reality. In this case, self-responsibility is not something that we alone gain from the realization, but something that achieves in society. As a member of society, the more we work together to achieve our own happiness, the greater our sense of self-responsibility.
