Description

Environmental activist David Brower once said, “There can be no business on a dead planet.” ESG (environmental, social, and governance), a global issue, has long been recognized as an indispensable element of corporate management for sustainable growth. The EU, the United States, global initiatives, and multinational companies are pursuing regulations and legislation for supply-chain businesses. As Korean companies face mandatory ESG disclosure postponed until after 2026, major corporations are accelerating efforts to embed ESG proactively. This book presents general ESG principles and key findings from a 2023 empirical study by Kyonggi University professors Park Jong-hyun and Kim Jong-seo on how ESG activities at Korea's three major supermarket chains affect consumer intent to return. The study found that greater consumer awareness of a company's ESG activities significantly affects its financial performance over the medium and long term. It seems fair to say the global business environment now makes sustainability and survival depend on sincere ESG efforts rather than half-hearted ESG or greenwashing. I hope this book helps anyone interested.

How can my store gain an advantage over other businesses in fierce competition? I am reviewing The Customer Goes to Stores Like These by Park Jong-hyun and Kim Jong-seo, a book that considers how to create stores customers want and points the way. Its basic message is that businesses should adopt ESG management to remain sustainable. The explanation “There can be no business on a dead planet” sets out why we need to focus on ESG. Yet skepticism about ESG exists too. The authors present various

While checking my email, I came across an article about companies planting trees in urban forests. It was hard to wrap my head around the idea of these already huge companies planting trees. Why would they suddenly do that? Curious, I scrolled farther and farther down the news article. They really were planting trees! The project creates forests to reduce fine dust and carbon emissions and make cities greener. Seeing people actively planting trees to create healing spaces in downtown areas made
