Since the beginning of human history, the boundaries between games and gambling have been repeatedly blurred by highly subjective values and the culture of the times. At this juncture, as the information and communication environment has rapidly developed since the 2000s, rather than interpreting games and gambling in a dichotomous manner, we must comprehensively monitor games and classify them into the realms of pure games, pseudo-gambling games (random item games), and gambling games. Furthermore, for pseudo-gambling and gambling games, a social safety system for gaming culture must be established where transparency and soundness are ensured under the strict management and supervision of the government, considering both theoretical and actual payout probabilities. Through this book, I discuss information regarding supervision technologies for casino slot machines—representative electronic gambling devices—and other related matters. I hope this contributes to the healthy transformation of Korea's overall gaming culture and the innovation of management and supervision technologies, and I look forward to it serving as a valuable resource for many junior students majoring in hotel management or casino studies to connect with.
