The *Gyeongmogung Uigwe*, a significant addition to the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics’ translation series, has been published thanks to the craftsmanship of Oh Se-ok and Park Heon-sun, two experts who have long been dedicated to translation. It is considered suitable for both students majoring in Korean studies and general readers interested in the field. Not only is the content of the book itself excellent, but the overall design, typesetting, and binding are all flawless.
Oh Se-ok et al.: Gyeongmogung Uigwe (Translation)
“Gyeongmogung Uigwe”. Translated by the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics, this book focused on accurate translation and collation with the original text. To this end, the translation was based on a thorough comparison of the Kyujanggak edition of “Gyeongmogung Uigwe”—which served as the source text—with various variant editions such as the Jangseogak edition, as well as related materials like the Seungjeongwon Ilgi, the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, and the Ilseongnok. Errors in the original text were corrected through collation, and this was used as the basis for the translation. In addition, a collated and punctuated “Gyeongmogung Uigwe”, featuring punctuation marks, was published simultaneously with the translation to aid in understanding the original text.
