Everyone would agree that photographs and illustrations are essential for learning in the automotive field. The process of collecting and analyzing numerous photos and illustrations, and arranging them to fit the textbook's structure, was repeated countless times. In this way, I devoted great effort to organizing the content of this textbook to aid in understanding fundamental theories, and I also listened attentively to the voices of examinees to reflect their needs as much as possible. Automotive engineering, a derivative of mechanical engineering, presents many challenges in terms of theoretical study. Unlike other disciplines, studying automobiles is aided by seeing and handling actual vehicles as much as possible; therefore, I wrote this book with an emphasis on this aspect, reflecting the requirements of the examinees.
