Oh Jin-kyung: The Art History of Ordinariness
Art is considered a creative act that uses visual osmosis and produces new aesthetics that distinguish us from the existing. The belief that a human artist could create an absolute and unique work of value, as if it were God's power, has long been shared in the history of art. But as we move into modern times, the idea of the creation of art based on uniqueness and creativity has been seriously challenged. Because ordinary, everyday, and replicatable characteristics that are far from unique or unique in the subject of art, in the materials used and in the way it is expressed. The first question that comes to mind when we come across this trend in modern art is, can we talk about creative art in this situation, and what does the ordinary art history mean? I have been studying modern art history for a long time and constantly asking this question and trying to find the answer. This is the 40-year year of my art history. I still remember the first time I got into art history, starting in 1981 at the University of Lee's Women, when I entered first grade school. Although the necessary literature was not as abundant and not much good work was done in the days when many people were studying modern art in the country, each day was a pleasure and a joy as they learned the beauty of art art that understood human history through visual artwork.
