I bought this as a textbook for the second semester, and I like it because the delivery was fast.
It establishes theoretical concepts regarding what finance is and holds a perspective on approaches that support the growth and economic efficiency of the real economy.
I purchased it to use as a teaching material.
Noh Hyung-kyu et al.: Monetary and Financial Theory (2nd semester of 2026, workbook included)
This textbook covers two main topics: financial markets and money markets. Chapters 1 through 6 fall under the category of microeconomics because they primarily analyze financial markets. Chapters 7 through 12 fall under the category of macroeconomics, as they analyze the national economy while keeping in mind the interrelationships between the money market and other markets. In analyzing financial markets, the financial system is introduced first, followed by an examination of the financial activities of various financial entities, including financial institutions. The characteristics and prices of financial products traded within the financial market are then explained. The analysis of the money market begins with the supply and demand theories of money to derive the equilibrium of the money market and analyze the impact of monetary policy on major economic variables. In particular, it analyzes the content of monetary and financial policies advocated by various schools of thought that hold differing positions regarding the effectiveness of monetary policy and the macroeconomic structure, by comparing their theoretical differences.
