The passing score for the first stage of the 29th Judicial Scrivener Examination, held on September 2, 2023, was 59.5, down one point from 60.5 the previous year. The successful candidates’ average across all subjects was 64.990, which was 1.306 points below the 2022 average of 66.296. In other words, the 29th exam appears to have had fewer high scorers with 80 points or more. The passing score seems to have been so low because there were many subjects, the difficulty was excessively high, and the long passages and boxed questions were difficult to solve within the time limit.
