Michael W. Goheen: Introduction to 21st Century Missiology
Author Michael W. Goheen is a missiologist who has been deeply involved in the North American missional church movement since its inception, as well as a scholar who meticulously unravels the Christian worldview from a biblical perspective. As the author himself states, he has reorganized David J. Bosch’s *Transforming Mission*—considered the greatest missiology book of the 20th century—into *Introducing Christian Mission Today* to make it easily accessible to everyone. While *Transforming Mission* is undoubtedly a masterpiece, its sheer volume and depth make it somewhat overwhelming for students and pastors interested in or just beginning to study missiology to access. The author not only explains Bosch’s core logic accurately yet more simply, but also covers missiological discourses that Bosch could not address due to the limitations of his time. Although there are many good introductory books on missiology and excellent books on missional ecclesiology, it is not easy to find a missiology book that firmly connects the two. Although the author does not directly address missional ecclesiology, the missiological logic contained in this book will provide a solid missiological foundation for missional ecclesiology. It is an introductory book perfectly suited for navigating the context of the 21st century through missiological lens.
