Description

Michael Ende's 'Momo,' a strange story about thieves who steal time and a girl who retrieves the time they stole, has been republished in a revised edition for its 50th anniversary. First published in Germany in 1973, it won the German Youth Literature Prize the following year, in 1974. Translated and published in 53 countries around the world and selling more than 12 million copies, it is a record-breaking bestseller. Now, 50 years after publication, it is counted among the most important works of the 20th century and has taken its place among the classics of our time. Since it was published in Korea in 1999 by BIR using an exclusive agreement with the German publisher Thienemann, it has held the place of the country's best-selling children's book for 25 years, establishing itself as a must-read of our time and a modern classic. 'Momo,' the greatest masterpiece left by fantasy literature master Michael Ende, borrows the form of a dreamlike, mysterious fairy tale to sharply reflect the world we live in, earning it the description of a fairy tale for adults that follows in the footsteps of 'The Little Prince.' This fantastical adventure, imbued with the nostalgia of fairy tales, is full of deep insights into time, life, and relationships, and deeply resonates in the hearts of children and adults alike across generations. It awakens us to the precious value of 'time,' which is always given to everyone and so easy to take for granted, and tells us the most essential truths about our 'lives,' made up of each passing moment, and the 'relationships' between people that fill them with warm affection.

At some point, we started habitually saying, “I don't have time.” Everyone gets the same day, yet it always feels insufficient and as though we are being chased. So we look for time-management methods and try to use even spare moments carefully, believing that if we fill every day tightly, someday we will become the person we want to be. But something is strange. More and more things make life convenient and abundant, yet we still struggle for time. Even when we get a moment of leisure, we

This is a fairy-tale-like book that anyone, adult or child, can read comfortably. After reading it, one is shown both the lesson of the preciousness of time that cannot be held onto and a critique of modern society. No one knows where Momo came from. The story begins at a small, ruined amphitheater at the southern edge of a large city. Around this theater, which had been for poor people, stood shabby, deteriorating cottages and fields, with a dense pine forest. Once Momo began living in the

Revised edition commemorating the 50th anniversary of publication. The cover has become even more stylish, combining gently shimmering silver-foil glitter with illustrations drawn by Michael Ende himself. A strange story about thieves who steal time and a girl who retrieves the time they stole. Momo is a book for “the child within all of us” who can live creatively and fulfill their destiny. I understand why it has been loved for so long. It had such an absorbing charm that I could hardly put
