Maurice Maeterlinck: Princess Malen

This is the first drama by the Belgian iconist dramatist Matterllink, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1978. The tactics of suggestion and symbol are outstanding in predicting the coming of unhappiness in dealing with the tragic fates that young men and women experience because of their father's differences. The author's interest in the invisible vague forces and supernatural things that surround us creates a strange atmosphere in his work. The inevitable power of fate in this mysterious atmosphere, and the face of helpless figures before it, can be enjoyed with interest.
