Matthew Rubbury: The history of audiobooks

How is it different than reading and listening? The book answers this question by tracking the history of a recording book that has developed since Thomas Edison invented the phonograph in 1877. Audiobooks have been recognized as a secondary tool for reading to people who are in need of reading, such as busy moderns and blinds. But recently there has been a growing trend to recognize the audio book as an independent art that no longer relies on the original printing book. The book traces the development and development of the book by discussing the nature of reading from the 19th century on. First of all, it aims to restore the central role that sound technology has performed in the development of books. To do so, we determine how sound-related devices have produced recording literature and analyze why such changes are so often excluded from the normal history of books.
