Description

*History of the Balkans* portrays the efforts of the Balkan people to find their identity and escape the shadow of invasion, while simultaneously examining from an objective perspective the limitations of national character and passive historical views that failed to overcome the religious and cultural differences imposed by powerful nations of the East and West. The beginning of the book features maps showing the topography of the Balkan Peninsula as it has changed over time, and detailed references, notes, and a chronology are provided at the end for readers seeking to study history in depth.
