Description

Malcolm Gladwell, the premier management writer whose published works—including *The Tipping Point*, *Blink*, *Outliers*, and *David and Goliath*—have all become *New York Times* bestsellers, has returned with a new book. It is another masterpiece, *Talking to Strangers* (original title: *The Interpretation of Others*), which became an instant bestseller on the *New York Times*, Amazon's nonfiction category, and *The Sunday Times* upon release, while simultaneously being named "Book of the Year" by *Bloomberg*, the *Financial Times*, and the *Chicago Tribune*. We assume that strangers are honest. We mistakenly believe we can learn about them through their facial expressions, behavior, and tone of voice. We fail to see the world they inhabit. If you misunderstand a stranger using these strategies, conflict is inevitable. The book reveals the errors we commit when dealing with strangers and the tragic consequences that result from them, and proposes a modification of this strategy. The single book you must read to approach the truth of others, as you must meet someone with a different perspective and background every day.

It shatters the illusion that one can perfectly understand others and makes one reflect on the arrogance and prejudice within communication. It served as an opportunity to look back on whether I have ever forced my opinions upon others under the guise of understanding them.
