Description

North Korea is no longer unusual in its appearance from the eyes of outsiders. The streets already abandoned and the faces of some people who feel a bit uglier, and the plaintiffs with privileged people in them are only a fraction of North Korea and the reality is a total cover. But Lynsey Miller, who spent two years in North Korea, with her husband, a British diplomat, between 2017 and 2019, has a very different feeling. Lindsey Miller tries to convey the many senses and the strange feelings that surrounded him in North Korea, including the pine scent of a mascara, the noise of a smoke-filled ping-up, and the calm of the beach at dawn. We realize, as we read the comical stories of pyo-yong diplomats, the story of drunk driving inspectors and the atmosphere surrounding Pyongyang at the North and South Summit in 2018. The idea that even a place like it is not about living there, but about feeling rising up in it. No place has ever caused him such a strange feeling as North Korea, so it is hard to read the book as a growing point showing how the most bizarre space in the world changed a human being.

It is interesting to see that there are foreigners who understand North Korea so deeply and love and yet criticize it, and it is surprising that few of us who live in the middle of a different world have this warm view.
