Although the author himself has not been able to break away from national or populist historiography, and thus faces the limitation of having to write the book from that perspective, overall, I think it is a book that effectively summarizes the international and domestic situations of that era.

This book attempts a comprehensive perspective on the traditional East Asian order from the author's own viewpoint, with a background in international politics. It summarizes the historical history of war and peace between the Asian continent and the Korean Peninsula within the context of a Chinese world order spanning two thousand years. By focusing on the dynamic interaction between inland Asian nomadic civilizations and China, the author seeks to reveal the internal complexity of the East Asian world and the Chinese world order, as well as the duality inherent in the geopolitical identity of the ancient Korean Peninsula. Furthermore, the book draws attention to the historical significance of the third form of international order devised by the traditional East Asian world—the tributary-investiture system—as a norm governing war and peace. This research by the author is the result of a critical reflection on the maximalism of the ROK-U.S. alliance, which has been the dominant strategic paradigm regarding war and peace in post-war Korean society. At a time when the prevailing mindset regards the alliance with the United States as the entirety or the very core of Korea's future grand strategy, this book raises the need for a re-evaluation of East Asian history.
